Hypothyroidism and its symptoms

Hypothyroidism is a condition in which there is no sufficient thyroid production. It is also known by the names such as Hypothyreosis, underactive thyroid, and low thyroid. Some of the symptoms are

Feeling of exhaustion
People suffering from hypotheses often feel tired and weak. They feel drowsy and show a tendency to sleep whenever they get a chance. This exhaustion originates from the poor metabolic activities of the body caused by hypothyreosis.

Increase in body weight
Despite following strict diet programs, they are not able to keep a check on their body weight and their weight continues to rise considerably.

Problems with cold temperature
They find it hard to cope with the cold temperature and cannot adjust to cold conditions like others.

Hair issues
Hypothyroidism can affect your hair as well. A person having low thyroid may have dry hair or abnormal hair loss.

Constipation
This is one of the most commonly seen symptoms of hypothyroidism. Constipation could be the end result of erratic bowel movements.

Inflated cholesterol level and unsteady heart rate
An underactive thyroid may result in a proliferation in the cholesterol level. It may also slow down the heart rate.

Irregularities in menstruation
Hypothyroidism can possibly affect the menstrual cycle of a woman, upsetting the normal course of menstruation. This may lead to other health issues also.

Sudden changes in mood
People who are afflicted by underactive thyroid may find it hard to control their temper because they are not feeling healthy. Hence, they may overreact to minor things.

Muddled memory
This thyroid condition may have a negative impact on memory power. Hypothyroid patients may have to strive hard to recollect things precisely.
